Iain Cottingham & Stephanie Steevenson
Iain has lived in Thatcham for 28 years and his three daughters attended Parsons Down Primary and Kennet Schools. He was a School Governor at Parsons Down Infant School.
Iain qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant during his 13 year career at Vodafone. He ended his 18 year corporate career at Orange as the Global VP for Fraud Prevention and Revenue Protection. He is an Associate Director of the Chartered Institute of Trading Standards.
He is currently Chair of Thatcham Town Cricket Club and Vice-Captain of Donnington Grove Golf Club Seniors. He has previously been Chair of Falkland CC. Iain passionately believes in the physical and mental health benefits of playing sport. There is significant opportunity for the various sporting and leisure clubs in Thatcham to work together to improve residents access and participation.
Stephanie Steevenson has lived in Thatcham for 33 years and while her two sons attended Kennet School, she was a School Governor. She taught in Wantage, and in Newbury at the Castle School. She served on Thatcham Town Council for 8 years, including one stint as Mayor.
Stephanie has volunteered for several organisations including Thatcham Royal British Legion, Berkshire Girlguiding, the Corn Exchange in Newbury and with Thatcham u3a. Before COVID Stephanie chaired Thatcham Community Forum, the successor to the Neighbourhood Action Group, a group she was involved with from when it was first started by Thames Valley Police. She would like to see the reintroduction of local Community Forums so that residents feel their voices can be heard. Stephanie believes that Thatcham is a vibrant community and should benefit from local accountable decision-making for the benefit of those living here now, but always keeping the climate emergency in mind for those who will live here in the future.
