Newbury Wash Common
Adrian Abbs, Patrick Clark & Vaughan Miller
Adrian Abbs has lived in and run his business from Newbury for over 20 years, and has represented Wash Common on West Berkshire Council since 2019.
As a local businessman Adrian has the real-world experience that West Berkshire Council needs, and already he has put forward ideas that the Council has adopted. Adrian believes in evidence-based policy, and isn't afraid to change his mind when presented with new information.
Adrian is passionate about the environment, education and lifelong learning. If re-elected he will champion reducing carbon emissions across the district and making sure everyone gets access to the education they need to get on in life.
Over the past 4 years Adrian has been pushing for access to defibrilators across Wash Common and is hoping to achieve over 99% coverage across the ward.
What to expect from Adrian as your West Berkshire Councillor if elected
- Adrian means to continue to represent the ward by offering real scrutiny of the decision-making being done.
- Adrian has lived in and run my business from Newbury for over 20 years. (Expect me to continue to care about local issues)
- Adrian's career has covered from shovelling peas to running international companies in Europe and the USA so he brings real-world experience to the role and has delivered solutions the council has adopted.
- His opinions are fact-driven - Which means what he believes sometimes changes based on new evidence - This is valuable given what he sees from some political people who are locked into never saying they got something wrong
- Having come from a working-class background Adrian believes in a fair start for all and will look to fight for that in Wash Common. - He has brought and will continue to bring motions to the council to help all residents of the ward
- Adrian believes education is the fundamental building block of life, it is something needed throughout your career and he wants to see what we can do at West Berkshire to help. I want to tackle the move to Multi Trusts that is being imposed on the UK by innovating in West Berkshire
- Adrian will be continuing to try and get better than 99% coverage for people in terms of having a de-fib nearby.
Patrick Clark lives in Wash Common with his family, with his children attending local schools.
Although new to party politics, Patrick has experience of working with governments local and national to try and achieve the best outcomes for residents - something he wishes to continue should he be elected to West Berkshire Council.
Vaughan Miller lives in Wash Common and since 2019 has been a Newbury Town Councillor.
Vaughan is particularly passionate about putting a stop to the Conservatives' plans to waste £10m on a "Sports Hub" on Monks Lane, and returning football in Newbury to its home at Faraday Road.
