Antony Amirtharaj & Martha Vickers
Antony Amirtharaj has been a resident of Speen for the last 17 years with his family. He has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Leadership and his professional background is Software Project Management. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Speen Parish Council, actively supporting the local community and contributing to the local affairs as a parish councillor for the last six years.
Antony is also actively involved in school leadership affairs in his role as a Foundation Governor at St Joseph's Catholic Primary school, and is passionate about contributing his time and expertise in whatever ways possible to the local community. He has proudly been able to implement a number of projects and initiatives in the Speen area.
Antony is keen to attract investment from businesses into Speen in order to create opportunities for young people, and as your district councillor would also champion Speen's affordable housing, education and social care needs by ensuring that the our area is firmly embedded within the long term strategic plan of West Berkshire Council.
Martha Vickers has lived in Newbury since 1987 and worked as a Health Visitor in Newbury and West Berkshire until her retirement.
Martha has served as a District and Newbury Town councillor. She was Mayor in 1997 when she focused on trying to give a voice to young people, forming the first Newbury Young persons Council and initiating the long-running Local Democracy work with schools.
Martha has a particular interest in caring for the vulnerable and protecting our environment. She is passionate about supporting women who have suffered Domestic Abuse, is a member of Newbury Town Council’s Climate Change Working Group and is West Berkshire Council’s Green Champion.
