Phil Barnett, Billy Drummond & Erik Pattenden

Phil Barnett has lived in Newbury all his life. He has 3 children and 6 grandchildren, all also living locally. He was a pupil – and 28 years a governor – at Park House School.

Originally a Labour candidate, he joined the Lib Dems in the 1980s. After working over 30 years at Harwell, he stood and won a seat on the District Council in what was then Turnpike Ward. He served two terms on Newbury Town Council, twice having the honour of being town mayor.

Billy Drummond has lived and worked in Newbury as a Head chef and ran a  successful catering business until he retired 2020. He has represented Greenham Parish since 2000, on West Berks Council since 2003 and Newbury Town since 2019 and finished a successful term as Mayor in 2022.

He served 19yrs as a governor of the Willows School, has been a Foundation governor of St Bart’s since 2005, and is a Director of Greenham Business Park, he also sits on the Good Exchange Panel.

He cares passionately about the disadvantaged and the impact that austerity has on them. Billy try’s to do as much as he can for the youth in Greenham.

Married since 1979 to Sharon who works locally as a mental health nurse, they have 3 children who were schooled locally an 3 grandchildren schooled locally.

Erik Pattenden joined the Lib Dems in 2017 as a passionate believer in openness, tolerance, fairness and equality, frustrated with recent national politics. Erik wants to bring positive change to West Berks Council to ensure it works for the benefit of all residents.

He grew up in Newbury, going to local state schools, followed by university in Birmingham and Bristol. He co-owns a local web and app development company. He has been a foundation governor and chair of governors at a local infant school. His wife is a local sculptor and they have three children, also educated locally.

Erik is on the Shadow Executive with the portfolios of Children, Education and Culture.
